We are seeking a Design Development Engineer to join our team. If you have a strong background in designing steel structures and working with CAD software, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Design:
    • Create detailed technical drawings and 3D models using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Tekla, etc.).
    • Design steel structures, beams, frames, and other components according to project requirements.
    • Prepare design layouts and prototypes that meet strength, durability, and aesthetic standards.
    • Collaborate with engineers to optimize designs for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Drafting and Detailing:
    • Produce fabrication drawings with accurate dimensions, materials, and welding specifications.
    • Provide a bill of materials (BOM) and cutting lists for the fabrication team.
    • Detail structural components, joints, and other elements for production.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with production, welding, and quality control teams to ensure the designs are feasible and align with manufacturing capabilities.
    • Liaise with clients and project managers to understand design needs and make necessary modifications.
    • Present design concepts and solutions to stakeholders for feedback and approval.
  • Quality and Compliance:
    • Ensure that all designs comply with relevant standards and codes (AISC, ASTM, EN standards).
    • Review designs to identify and resolve any technical issues.
    • Make sure all materials and processes meet safety and quality regulations.
  • Project Management Support:
    • Help plan production schedules by providing accurate design timelines and material estimates.
    • Manage design revisions and document changes to track project progress.
    • Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, from design to installation.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay updated on the latest design techniques, technologies, and fabrication methods.
    • Implement design optimizations to reduce waste and manufacturing costs.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience:
    • At least 3 years of experience designing steel structures or working in metal fabrication, ideally in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Tekla, or similar).
    • Knowledge of steel fabrication processes (welding, cutting, bending, etc.).
    • Strong understanding of structural design principles and mechanical systems.
    • Familiarity with industry standards (AISC, EN, ASTM, etc.).
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
    • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration and presenting ideas.
    • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • This is a full-time position with standard working hours.
  • Some overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.
  • The role involves working in both an office and factory setting for site visits or design validation.

Additional Considerations:

  • Knowledge of CNC machinery, robotic fabrication, and other advanced manufacturing techniques is a plus.
  • Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) for construction projects is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SAP/STAAD software is also beneficial.
